Mercedes Benz continues to introduce its motor yachts
Begüm Group of Companies continues to promote Mercedes Benz Motor Yachts, of which it is the distributor in Turkey. The Group took its place at the Bosphorus Boat Show Boat, Boat Equipment and Accessories Fair, which opened its doors on 17.02.2024 at the Istanbul Expo Centre.
Begüm Group of Companies took the distributorship of the 14-metre luxury yachts produced by the German automotive giant Mercedes-Benz, which is also involved in the maritime sector.
Begüm Doğulu, the owner of Begüm Group of Companies, told Denizhaber.com about the distributorship process and future plans.
Doğulu stated that although they work in every segment related to yachting, they do not have a distributorship and said, "Our meeting with Mercedes was unexpected.
They called from Mecedes benz office and said 'we want to work with you'
Begüm Doğulu explained that she was not really after the distributorship of any boat and continued as follows
"One day I got a phone call. We are calling from the Mecedes Benz office in Monaco, they said 'we have manufactured a motor yacht and we want to work with you'. Afterwards, when things got serious, we went to Monaco and sat down to talk. I asked because I was curious, there are many companies in Turkey that are only distributors, why did you choose us? To my question, 'because your name is Begüm, we did research from different sectors. All 4 companies we asked suggested us to work with you, even coming to us with such a question is a reason for us to trust you".
As you know, we had our launch night on 13 December, we couldn't exhibit the boat there. This fair was a great opportunity for us.
Boats are manufactured in Slovenia
Mercedes Benz manufactures its motor yachts in Slovenia. But now I want to have the boats manufactured in Turkey. I will have a meeting with them and I will say that since you see such a market in Turkey, let us do the manufacturing as well. I believe I will do this.
The market is very excited
There is incredible interest, the market is very excited. The fair informed us that they were called a lot on this subject and that they were asked questions such as "did Mercedes really come?" and that there may even be a stampede. Between 17-24 February 2024, we are waiting for our visitors in Istanbul Expo Centre Hall No. 1.

Based on the design of Mercedes-Benz's Cabrio S model car, the boat was built in partnership with the British Silver Arrow Marines company for the construction of the boat. The first 10 units are planned to be produced and only one unit is planned to be sold per country. The price of the boat is expected to be 1.7 million dollars (5.3 million TL). The interior design of the boat, which can reach speeds of up to 62 km/h (30 knots), uses nubuck leather, eucalyptus wood panels and glass that changes colour in sunlight.
Begüm Group of Companies, which includes Begüm Yachting, Barka Shipyard, Turkey Provisioning Services, Markiz Konakları Otelcilik and Doğulu Otomotiv brands, had organised the Launch Night of Mercedes Benz Motor Yachts, of which it is the distributor in Turkey, at Esma Sultan Mansion in December last year.
