Offering an important option for those looking for a luxurious, comfortable and well-equipped yacht this summer, Lady Luna is preparing to make a difference in the regional market.
Begüm Doğulu: "I Realised a Dream with Lady Luna"
Speaking before the ceremony, Begüm Doğulu, CEO of Begüm Group of Companies, expressed her pride in the project and emphasised that maritime is not only a commercial but also a national issue. In her speech, Doğulu said: "Many of you have never left me alone on the days when I celebrated my achievements. Your friendship and presence give us strength. Today, God has granted me to realise a dream of mine. Lady Luna, which we built commercially, has RINA Charter Class certification and is designed entirely for charter service. Our goal is to increase the number of Turkish flagged yachts in Turkish waters and to serve foreign guests with these boats. It is a special honour for us to employ Turkish crew on this boat. At the end of his speech, he thanked Ersin Çakar and his team for this excellent work they have produced and said, ‘As Muallim Naci said, “Marifet is subject to compliment, meta without customer is wasted” I would like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for being with us today despite this cold and rainy weather.’
‘We received the reward of 18 months of labour by launching it into the water’
Ersin Çakar, the owner of Martı Shipyard, who built the boat, shared important information about the behind the scenes of the project with Vira News. Çakar, who continues to produce boats, which is his father's profession, stated that they have been operating as Martı Tekne in Nuh Industrial Site in Istanbul since 1976. ‘We started with small projects in Ayvansaray. At the point we have reached today, although our location is not very large, we can produce boats of this size with the facilities we have,’ said Çakar, stating that Lady Luna was laminated from mahogany wood and its outer surface was covered with polyester fibre. Çakar also shared technical information about the boat, "Lady Luna is 30 metres 70 centimetres long. The interior design was designed by Turgay Akgenç and Ira team. With its 5-cabin structure, it has the capacity to host 15-18 people.‘ Expressing that they made great efforts to the project, the master expressed his feelings in the following words: ’It is a great happiness for us as a team that this project, which took about 18 months, landed on the water. Lady Luna is not just a boat for us, it is the product of a labour, a journey. I would like to thank Mrs Begüm for the opportunity to take part in such a project."
