Christina O anchored in Bodrum
The Canadian warship Aristotle Onassis transformed it into a floating palace that hosted icons such as Winston Churchill and Marilyn Monroe. The legendary superyacht Christina O Muğla, a living piece of history, anchored in Bodrum.
TRANSFORMED INTO A FLOATING PALACE OVER THE YEARS
The ship, which was built as the Stormont frigate for the Canadian Navy in 1943 and escorted convoys carrying war materials to the Allied forces in World War II, was bought by the famous businessman Aristotle Onassis for 340 thousand dollars, modernised by spending 4 million dollars, and named Christina O after the shipowner's daughter Christina.
Christina Onassis had donated the yacht to the Greek government for the use of the Greek President in 1978 after her father died. The Greek government changed the name of the yacht to Argo. In 1998, Greek shipowner John Papanikoliu, one of Onassis' friends, bought the yacht back from the Greek state, spent 50 million dollars, renamed it Christina O and registered it in honour of Christina Oassis. The yacht is still used for blue voyages.
